RoboCop 1987

Robocop would not be part of a list of the top action movies from 1980s. Paul Verhoeven's original Hollywood picture is still widely recognized as a classic among 1980s Action Movies, as well as being one of the best, even blatantly satirical, films of that era. Robocop, at its infancy was easy to dismiss as harmless period action. However, the movie has gained more importance over the years. It may be an (RoboCop review) action film with the superficial qualities we like, but it is in its depths that the wonders of Paul Verhoeven’s work are revealed. Looking back at my younger self, I feel like he should be slapped in the face for not seeing this. But Robocop prepared me to see graphic violence on film which may have contributed to my success.
